Why is the cylinder of a horizontal jack chrome-plated

Time:2026-01-07 Author:gh-jacks

Chrome plating refers to the process of coating other metals with chromium as a plating layer. This process is applied to products such as pipes, guardrails, faucets, and other home appliances, electrical equipment, and mechanical devices that require high corrosion resistance. Although horizontal jacks do not necessarily pursue high corrosion resistance, jacks with high corrosion resistance can improve lifting efficiency, save operators' effort, and extend the service life of the jack.

Therefore, in horizontal jack products, we can apply chrome plating process to the two lifting sleeves of the jack. This serves two purposes. Firstly, it serves as a decorative element, enhancing the appearance's brightness and improving the corrosion and acid-alkali resistance of the lifting sleeve itself. Secondly, it increases the hardness and wear resistance of the sleeve.

Therefore, when comparing chrome-plated horizontal jacks to regular jacks, the main difference lies in the lifting sleeve. The chrome-plated lifting sleeve features an extra thin passivation film, giving it a stronger metallic feel and better wear resistance. It is more suitable for situations where heavy objects need to be lifted frequently, as well as for wet or highly acidic or alkaline environments.
