The railway locomotive wheelset is assembled by pressing one axle and two wheels together, and bears the entire weight of the wheels in a stationary state. During operation, various additional forces are applied from the body and rails. During locomotive operation, displacement between the wheels and axles is not allowed, rust and corrosion are not allowed, and any defects, improper maintenance techniques, high-temperature hot axle failures, or other situations are not allowed.

Once the hot axle fault of the rolling bearings of railway freight cars is difficult to solve during operation, the staff must adopt the method of replacing the wheelset. When replacing the wheelset, tools such as horizontal jacks, safety iron brackets, wheel stoppers, hammers, adjustable wrenches, and anti slip pads are used.

1. During the homework process, the first step is to close the cut-off valve, eliminate the pressure inside the air cylinder, and install wheel stoppers before and after the wheels of the relative bogie that need to be replaced;

2. Use anti slip sleepers and jacks, place them under the defective wheelsets respectively, and place safety iron brackets;

3. After lifting the bottom of the car to a certain height using a jack, push out the bogie to a longer distance while the jack is in a stationary state;

4. Place the better wheelsets at the bottom of the two side frames to restore the bearing saddle and wheelset, as well as the wheelset and bogie, to their correct positions;

5. Remove the safety iron bracket placed under the vehicle and lower the horizontal jack.
