Although the sealing ring of the vertical jack is small, it plays a crucial role in maintaining the normal operation of the jack. It not only prevents hydraulic oil leakage and ensures lifting power, but also blocks external impurities from invading, ensuring the stability of the internal mechanical structure. Once the sealing ring fails, the performance and safety of the jack will be greatly reduced. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately determine whether it needs to be replaced, which can be approached from the following aspects:
Carefully inspect the sealing ring. If there are obvious cracks, damages, deformations, or wear, it means that it has been damaged and its sealing performance may be affected. Replacement should be considered. For example, if the edge of the sealing ring is serrated and damaged, or if there are deep cracks on the surface, it will lead to poor sealing and easy oil leakage.

Check the ground or workbench around the jack. If there are traces of hydraulic oil leakage, such as oil droplets or oil accumulation, it may be due to poor sealing of the sealing ring, causing hydraulic oil to leak out. In addition, if there is oil leakage at the joint between the cylinder barrel and the top cover during the lifting or lowering operation of the jack, it also indicates that the sealing ring may need to be replaced.
When operating a jack, if the lifting speed slows down significantly, the lifting force is insufficient, or the heavy object cannot be maintained at a certain height, resulting in a sliding phenomenon, it may be due to aging or damage to the sealing ring, causing internal leakage in the hydraulic system and ineffective pressure maintenance. At this point, it is necessary to check and possibly replace the sealing ring.
Even if the appearance of the jack is leak free and its working performance is not affected, if it has been used for a long time or frequently, reaching or approaching the normal service life of the sealing ring, replacement can still be considered as a preventive measure. The service life of sealing rings of different materials and models varies. You can refer to the product manual or consult the manufacturer for an approximate replacement cycle.
