As soon as it arrived in Rizhao, this beautiful city on the coast of the Yellow Sea was attracted by its vast and boundless sea and vibrant harbor. I came to work at a sizable shipyard, where I came into contact with screw jacks.

I remember once we needed to perform bottom maintenance on a small ship. Due to the vessel being docked at a specific location and limited surrounding space, large lifting equipment cannot be used at all. At this point, the screw jack came in handy. It is small in size, yet contains enormous energy. The master carefully placed the screw jack on the appropriate support point, rotating the screw while carefully observing the lifting situation of the ship. Firstly, it is necessary to choose a suitable specification of screw jack based on the weight and lifting height of the vessel, otherwise it may cause danger. Secondly, the ground on which the jack is placed must be solid and flat, otherwise it is easy to tilt during the lifting process. Moreover, during operation, the screw should be rotated evenly and slowly, and should not be rushed to avoid accidents caused by excessive lifting speed.

Through this experience, I deeply realized that in this shipyard in Rizhao, every tool has its unique value, and the screw jack, although seemingly ordinary, plays a key role in ensuring the smooth progress of ship maintenance work.
