Can a horizontal jack be used for towing operations

Time:2024-12-04 Author:gh-jacks

Recently, a customer inquired about whether a horizontal jack can be used for towing operations. As is well known, the chassis design of a horizontal jack is quite unique, with four wheels added to both ends to improve its portability. Can it be used for towing?

The answer given by Guanhang is that it is not recommended to use a horizontal jack for towing operations. Firstly, we need to be clear that the core job of a jack is lifting and hoisting operations, not handling operations. Perhaps its appearance is somewhat similar to that of a handling tank, but the two have completely different design directions.

The most important factor in carrying out transportation work is the material of the wheels, and the process of transportation is also the process of wheel wear. The selection of wheels for transportation tanks is just right in terms of compression resistance and wear resistance, in order to resist high-strength wear under pressure. However, the design intention of horizontal jack top wheels did not include high-pressure wear.

Horizontal jack casters do not involve movement under load, and their point of action on the car is generally on the side, which is a specially designed lifting point for the jack. This position cannot smoothly transport the vehicle, and forced transport will only increase the possibility of damage to the car. Therefore, Crown Airlines does not recommend using horizontal jacks for towing.
